Laser Skin Treatment Toronto & Richmond Hill

At Laser Skin Clinic, we offer laser skin treatment procedures at our Toronto and Richmond Hill locations.  Laser technology has improved over the years, and laser skin treatments are safe, affordable, offer little or no downtime, are effective, and are increasing in popularity each year.

Laser skin treatment uses non-ablative lasers such as our PicoSure, Aerolase, and Elite IQ.  Both laser systems offer excellent results and quick healing.

Energy from the lasers helps break up scar tissue, vascular, and pigmented lesions and, at the same time, creates new collagen and elastin. Controlled injury in the tissue creates a healing response, creating new skin that helps improve texture, tone, and coloration.

Aerolase Laser

The Aerolase Laser stands out in skin treatments for its unparalleled precision and versatility. Renowned for its advanced technology, this laser system offers a non-invasive solution for various skin concerns, including acne, pigmentation, wrinkles, and vascular lesions.
The distinctive feature of Aerolase lies in its impressive capacity to pinpoint particular areas while ensuring minimal discomfort and recovery time. This is made possible by its cutting-edge 650-microsecond technology, which effectively channels energy deep into the skin without harming the surrounding tissue. Its versatility allows for safe and effective treatments across different skin types and tones. It is a superior choice for individuals seeking remarkable results with a gentle and efficient approach to skin rejuvenation.

Cynosure PicoSure Laser

The PicoSure for laser skin treatment is the world’s first picosecond laser platform that can be used for various laser skin treatments. It can be used for skin rejuvenation, acne scars,  skin tightening treatment, skin pigmentation issues and tattoo removal.

Picosure is a gentle laser skin treatment with minimal downtime and side effects.  It uses a very short pulse duration (picosecond) to stimulate the body’s collagen and elastin production, giving you great skin rejuvenation results.

According to interesjournals.org
Conclusion: Picosure laser is safe, fast, and effective in the aesthetic treatment of 1-6 types of skin disorders.

Cynosure Elite IQ

The Elite iQ is a powerful dual-wavelength laser system that delivers energy faster with great results. The Elite IQ’s wavelengths are the gold standard for hair removal, wrinkle reduction, leg veins, skin tightening, and vascular and pigmented lesions.

Elite IQ is so smart it reads your skin before removing a single hair with Skintel technology, the only FDA-cleared melanin reader.  It adjusts to your skin type, finding the perfect setting for every skin tone.

Laser Skin Treatment Q & A

Which laser is suitable for vascular lesions?

Elite iQ is an advanced, high-performance 30A NAD: YAG facial rejuvenation system. Designed to expand an aesthetic menu, this advanced facial rejuvenation system can perform various rejuvenation treatments, from hair removal and microdermabrasion to sun damage and wrinkles.

Which laser is suitable for pigmented lesions?

PicoSure is a powerful laser that emits energy in picoseconds, providing pigmentation and skin rejuvenation treatment. It’s the newest advancement in pico-second technology and has a high success rate for eliminating unwanted pigment, wrinkles, acne scars, pores, and tattoos compared to conventional lasers.

Can Pico laser remove pigmentation?

Picosecond lasers remove pigmentation and tattoos and help with skin texture issues like wrinkles, acne scars and another facial scarring. The procedure kickstarts elastin and collagen production in the lower parts of the skin.

Can PicoSure lighten skin?

Picosure is safe on any skin type. It fades sun spots and boosts elastin and collagen in the skin, resulting in a brighter complexion. UV and melasma darkening can also be lightened by Picosure, accompanied by sunblock, to maintain the lightening effect.

Can PicoSure remove dark spots?

The PicoSure uses laser pulses to penetrate the skin and eliminate hyperpigmentation. Its energy shatters dark spots into smaller pieces, which the body then clears away.

How many PicoSure treatments are needed for hyperpigmentation?

A series of treatments is recommended, with intervals of 2-4 weeks (for darker skin types, up to 8 weeks). Each patient is unique, so an evaluation will be done before treatment.

What are the types of acne scars?

Atrophic scars

Atrophic scars are a type of acne scar that is a flat, shallow depression in the skin. They typically heal below the surface and are most common due to severe cystic acne, but other types of acne can also cause them.

Boxcar scars are wide indentations with precise borders, typically caused by severe acne, chickenpox, or varicella (a virus causing a red, itchy rash with blisters). These scars usually appear on thicker-skinned areas of the face, like the lower cheeks and jaw.

Ice pick scars are more narrow and smaller than boxcar scars. They point down deep into the skin’s surface resembling an ice pick.

Rolling scars have sloping edges and make the skin look uneven and wavy. They have varying depths.

Hypertrophic and keloid scars

Hypertrophic and keloid scars are raised lumps of tissue that form in place of previous acne spots. Hypertrophic scars are the same size as the acne, while keloids are larger and spread beyond the edges of the acne. These scars occur more often on the jawline, chest, back, and shoulders, and those with dark skin tones are more prone to them.

Is PicoSure a good treatment for acne scars?

PicoSure can treat various skin problems, including acne scars, freckles, and brown pigmentation. It’s a convenient, non-surgical treatment that can fit into busy lifestyles.

Is Pico laser good for deep acne scars?

PicoSure is a laser treatment approved by the FDA to treat deep acne scars. It uses a unique energy source to deliver concentrated bursts of energy in short bursts, which breaks up scar tissue into smaller pieces absorbed by the body.  We recommend pairing the  PicoSure with our Potenza RF microneedling for even better results for raised, deep acne, boxcar scar, and rolling scars.

Are PicoSure results permanent?

PicoSure Skin revitalization has long-term effects, yet age spots or freckles can return if exposed to too much sun. To maintain results, have the treatment every six months. Acne scar improvements are permanent.

How many PicoSure treatments for acne scars?

You will see improvement after two treatments. However, we recommend 3 to 5 laser treatments for optimum results.

Which is better, Pico laser or Co2 laser, for scars?

It depends on your skin tone. Even though C02 lasers are very effective for acne scars, the side effects of skin darkening are higher for ethnic skin types. For this reason, we prefer to use the PicoSure Focus for early spots and people with darker complexions.

How painful is PicoSure for the face?

PicoSure is gaining recognition due to its simplicity and convenience. Treatments are usually done in under half an hour, with minimal discomfort. Most report it as similar to a sunburn, but the sensation varies from person to person.

What happens after the first PicoSure treatment?

Optimal results occur after three PicoSure treatments, but patients should see some improvements after one. After treatment, the skin may be red and feel sunburn-like, but this will pass quickly.

How long does skin take to heal after Picosure?

The Picosure facial usually causes no, or only slight, redness. Generally, no redness occurs, but those with moderate pigmentation may experience some. If redness appears, it should be short-lived, usually lasting one to two days.

Is PicoSure or IPL better?

PicoSure is more suitable for darker skin than IPL because it can be treated deeper into the skin. PicoSure also carries less risk of causing hyperpigmentation or brown spots.

Does PicoSure shrink pores?

PicoSure laser therapy revitalizes skin, tightening and smoothing it to lessen the effects of aging, sun damage, or smoking. Infrared light energy pulses penetrate the deepest skin layers, remedying the issue from its source and producing long-lasting results.

Is Pico laser better than Microneedling?

PicoSure laser treatments are more likely to deliver quicker, more dramatic, and long-lasting results. However, they also come with more potential side effects (e.g. swelling and redness) due to the heat delivery to the skin.

Which is more effective, chemical peel or laser?

Lasers are more precise and controllable than chemical peels, allowing for easy targeting of acne scars, spots, wrinkles, or sagging skin. They are also better for profound collagen remodelling.
