PICO LASER

A Pico laser is the first of a new generation of aesthetic lasers that do not rely solely on heat to remove undesired tattoo ink or melanin (i.e. the pigment that causes dark spots on your skin). On the other hand, Pico engineers used cutting-edge physics and medical science to aid practitioners in treating patients in novel ways. Pico delivers energy so quickly (in trillionths of a second) that tiny pigment and tattoo ink particles vibrate and shatter without burning surrounding tissue. Less heat equals less tissue damage and pain. Pico technology has several advantages over traditional laser tattoo removal. Pico laser technology can treat various skin types with multi-coloured tattoos. Unlike conventional lasers, it delivers extremely brief energy pulses, measured in Pico seconds, to the targeted inks. Traditional laser procedures are linked to:
  • Restrictions on the types and colours of tattoos that can be removed.
  • Pain when undergoing treatment.
  • Unable to separate the ink particles.
  • There are some treatment-related hazards, especially for people with darker skin tones.

Compared to conventional laser treatments, Pico Laser tattoo removal has many benefits:

It achieves quick effects by shattering ink particles with high-power, focused energy sent in extremely quick pulses so the body can remove them. In a few treatments, it offers greater benefits for various skin types. Due to the rapid energy pulses, patients seldom feel pain when receiving treatment. Advanced Pico technology reduces risk by delivering energy to the ink particles in ultra-short pulses so they can receive it optimally. In contrast, the skin receives the least amount of heat.

Process for removing tattoos using Pico laser technology

Numbing medication is first applied if the patient wants to feel more comfortable during treatment. After that, the Pico laser handpiece is applied to the treatment region to precisely target the ink particles with high-power laser radiation in Pico bursts. The energy pulses break up the ink particles into tiny pieces, most of which are then naturally excreted by the body. From the start of the operation to its conclusion, the skin is closely watched to keep it cool and comfortable. The surrounding skin is not harmed as this technique treats the tattoo only. The treatment is less likely to cause negative effects because less heat is produced. Patients may notice temporary skin reddening, discoloration, or skin whitening near the treatment site. Usually, the skin’s tone returns to normal when these symptoms go away. A single treatment can get rid of a tattoo, but it can take more than one to get rid of it completely. With Pico laser technology, there will be fewer treatments and side effects. However, some ink colours may require more removal sessions than others.

Why is it challenging to remove a tattoo?

Tattoo ink is injected beneath the skin into the dermis (the thick layer of living tissue beneath the epidermis), which is more difficult to reach. The larger the size of the ink particle, the more difficult it is to remove. Traditional laser treatments break up ink particles to make them easier for the body to eliminate. However, ink particles may still be too large for the body to eliminate after multiple treatments. Reds and yellows, for example, are more difficult to remove than blues and blacks. Traditional lasers have a harder time treating darker skin tones because more energy is absorbed into the skin rather than the ink particles. This increases the risk of treating people with darker skin. The Pico laser uses Pico pulses to shatter tattoo ink into tiny particles by targeting light at the colour-specific laser wavelength. Natural processes allow the body to remove these particles easily. Because the Pico laser emits less heat energy than traditional lasers, it is a safer, more comfortable treatment with fewer side effects for patients of all skin tones, including individuals with darker skin tones.

How does Pico laser tattoo removal treatment work?

Pico (one trillionth of a second) pulse durations are used to generate super-high powered laser energy, which is focused directly on the ink of your tattoo. This strong photo-mechanical impact optimizes tattoo ink fracturing, which means your unwanted tattoos will be zapped into vapour.

What should I expect?

Multiple treatment sessions are necessary for laser tattoo removal. The number of treatments required will vary depending on the type of ink used, the colour utilized, the quality and depth of the tattoo’s application, and the interval between treatments. The tattoos made of graphite and Indian ink are the most easily removed with laser treatments. Professional tattoos often need 5-8 sessions, while amateur tattoos typically need 1-3 sessions, all spaced around six weeks apart. Green, aqua, and yellow are challenging hues. The colours that are easier to remove are red and black. With laser tattoo removal, better than 95% fading of the tattoo is typically possible.

When can you expect to see results?

Your tattoos can be erased in a single session, but three to six sessions are often needed for full removal. Although it is impossible to remove a tattoo completely, the Pico Laser can greatly reduce its visibility. You can tattoo there again if the area has fully and, as expected, healed without experiencing any negative effects from the last tattoo.

Is tattoo removal using a laser painful?

Although your perception of pain may differ from that of other patients, be assured that very little discomfort is experienced throughout the removal procedure. Applying a topical anesthetic 30–60 minutes before the treatment session can relieve patients with sensitive skin or those who believe they could feel uncomfortable. With this technique, your skin can be continuously monitored from the start of your treatment through the final Pico, allowing for a cool, comfortable skin temperature.

Efficacy and risks

Less than 5% of people will develop scars, typically only affecting a fraction of the treated region. Red ink is typically the culprit for local and systemic allergic reactions to the ink. Changes to the colour and skin’s texture are two common side effects of laser tattoo removal utilizing a Q-switched laser. Topical bleaching creams are an effective treatment for minor, temporary hyperpigmentation. Hypopigmentation is also typically a temporary condition, but de-pigmentation happens approximately 1% of the time and is frequently permanent. Skin discomfort could persist for a week or more.

What is the price of Pico laser tattoo removal?

We offer a FLAT FEE of $197 for tattoos up to 6” x 6” in size with Cynosure PicoSure Laser. The main advantage of introducing flat fee pricing is removing the guesswork of figuring out the size of a tattoo when determining the price. For tattoos under 1″ x 1″, we offer a discounted rate of $150.00. pico laser - pico laser tattoo removal
